The most critical part of sharing a house is finding the right house in the first place. Any old house will not do. It has to be designed for maximum space and privacy, and many houses are not.
House design
Room Price
The cost per room goes down as the price of the house goes up. If you get a good average house you will pay $150-$200 per bedroom, and if you get a huge luxury house, you can pay as little as $100 per bedroom. More space, and more privacy for less rent. That is a good deal.
Bathrooms
At the most, in a quality house you will share your bathroom with one other, and maybe even have your own.
Kitchens
In addition, you will have a modern kitchen to share with dishwasher, and if you are lucky there may even be two kitchens.
Living areas
Then in the larger houses there are three or four living areas so no-one ever need be underfoot.
Finding a house
Run a search on www.realestate.com.au or www.domain.com.au for houses with at least 5 bedrooms and at least 4 bathrooms and you may be amazed at what is returned. Look at the kitchens, look at the bathrooms, look at the living areas and in some cases, look at the locations.
